      1. Yellow card

        INGLE Sophie

      2. Full-time verdict: A determined performance from Cymru earns a draw against a strong Portuguese outfit who are on their way to the World Cup finals this summer. A fine strike from Rachel Rowe levelled for the visitors but it was in defence that Grainger’s side had to show their true character to deny Portugal victory in front of their own fans. A second yellow card for captain Sophie Ingle in the final moments ended the match on a low point but there were more positives for the side to take into the UEFA Women’s Nations League that begins in September.

      3. Substitution

MORGAN Ffion Alys replaces ROWE Rachel

      4. Important save from Clark there to deny substitute Marques from regaining the lead for Portugal.

      5. GOAL CYMRU!! Rachel Rowe gets her second of this international camp with a superb first-time finish from the edge of the area that drops into the bottom corner of the net.

      6. Goal

        ROWE Rachel

      7. Fishlock tests Portugal goalkeeper Morais with a decent strike which will give some encouragement to the visitors. An important period in the game now and Grainger must be considering changes at this point.

      8. Just over 11,000 fans at the Estádio D. Afonso Henriques as Cymru continue to search for an equaliser. The humid conditions are taking their toll on the visitors now with 25 minutes remaining.

      9. Hannah Cain scored her first international goal against Northern Ireland last week but has cut a frustrated figure against Portugal this evening.

      10. Hayley Ladd plays a long ball forward,

      11. Goal for Portugal. Telma Encarnacao curls the ball past Clark and into the far corner to give the home side the lead. A disappointing goal from a defensive point of view and now Cymru must regroup as this is still all to play for.

      12. Goal

        TELMA ENCARNAÇÃO

      13. No changes from Grainger as the 2nd half gets underway. It will be interesting to see what changes are made later on should the score remain in the balance.

      14. Half-time verdict: A decent opening half from Cymru against a Portuguese side who are clearly dangerous in the final third. Chances have been limited for Grainger’s side but they have defended resolutely and have been just one good ball away from creating an opportunity at the other end. A few small tweaks to further restrict the home side and Cymru will continue to be very much in this close and competitive match.

      15. Yellow card

        INGLE Sophie

      16. Cymru seem to have dealt with Portugal’s best spell of possession and are now pushing forward with more purpose. Grainger will be keen for her side to finish the half as the stronger team and turn the positives of this opening half into a goal.

      17. Cymru captain Sophie Ingle dictates the play in the centre of midfield with Angharad James in support. Both players have made over 100 appearances each for their country.

      18. Portugal definitely stamping their authority on the match now as Evans times a last ditch tackle perfectly to deny the home side from taking advantage of their best period of pressure.

      19. Rhiannon Roberts has had Cymru’s only effort on goal at the midway point of the opening half.

      20. A scare for Cymru as Rute rattles Clark’s crossbar from outside the area. A great effort from the Portuguese which will lift the home crowd.

      21. Roberts with the first effort on goal as the defender shoots from long-range but clears the crossbar. Grainger will be pleased with the application of her team in this difficult fixture so far.

      22. Jess Fishlock in possession as Cymru enjoy a positive start to this international friendly against Portugal.

      23. A open and competitive start to the game. Portugal look keen to test Cymru from wide positions and provide service for their two strikers, but the visiting defence have looked assured in the early exchanges while asking a couple of questions of their own at the other end.

Portugal suffered a 2-1 friendly defeat to Japan on Friday, ending a run of eight consecutive victories for the side which included success in the FIFA Women’s World Cup play-offs. The defeat was their first since they were eliminated from the EURO finals at the group stages last summer with Ana Capeta scoring what would prove to be the consolation goal.

Meanwhile, Cymru duo Carrie Jones and Lily Woodham have not travelled to Portugal due to injury. Both players missed the 4-1 win over Northern Ireland and have returned to Leicester City and Reading respectively.

The Cymru squad completed their preparations on Monday and now take on Portugal in their second friendly of this international camp.

Last Thursday, goals from Jess Fishlock, Angharad James, Hannah Cain and Rachel Rowe earned Gemma Grainger’s side a 4-1 win over Northern Ireland at the Cardiff City Stadium, and the manager is hoping for more of the same from her side on Tuesday.

“Portugal have a clear playing style and they will be a great test for us,” said Grainger to BBC Sport Wales. “They are a great team, they haven’t looked back since they got into the European Championships last summer. They have built upon that and their qualification for the World Cup is a sign of that.

“It has been a really good camp so far, it’s exactly what we wanted. Thursday’s game was a really positive performance, the gameplan was executed really well by the players. We want to make sure we are a team that creates chances and converts them. The standard has been set now in terms of conversion rate, and we will continue to work on creating those chances.”
