Barry Town United and Abergavenny Reach FAW Girls’ Cup Final

Barry Town United U15 and Abergavenny U16 will meet in the 2023 FAW Girls’ Cup final following their semi-final victories on Sunday.

Barry booked their place in this season’s final after sealing a 6-1 win over Henllan U16 at the Weirglodd.

Aliya Hull struck twice within the space of a minute to put her side two goals in front inside the opening 20 minutes before Aimee Deacon struck a brace of her own later in the first half.

Barry captain Tay Wynne then added a fifth and Hull completed her hat-trick just after the hour mark, while Alisha Whitehead-Hughes scored a late consolation for Henllan.

Abergavenny scored three second-half goals to earn a 4-1 win over Cardiff Cosmopolitan U16 at the Bont Playing Fields.

Jasmine Lavis opened the scoring after 11 minutes to put Abergavenny ahead but the goal was cancelled out later in the first half when Sienna Stone replied for Cardiff Cosmopolitan.

Substitute Isobelle Probert scored a brace within six minutes in the second half to give her side a two-goal lead and Torri Leek added a fourth to ensure Abergavenny will be in this season’s final.
