Four Teams Book Place in Dragons Signs Amateur Trophy Semi-Finals

Four teams booked their place in the Dragons Signs Amateur Trophy semi-finals on Saturday.

Paul Fowler struck twice to inspire Bridgend Street as they pulled off a 5-2 over Rhos Aelwyd at Willows Avenue.

Aled Robertson’s own goal in the first half put Bridgend Street ahead inside the 22nd minute but Dan Roberts replied for Rhos Aelwyd to level the scores at the break.

Mike Murphy restored the home side’s lead nine minutes into the second half and they added another when Fowler dispatched a penalty on the hour mark, only for the away side to pull a goal back within 60 seconds of the restart through Ryan Jones.

Fowler then tucked home his second of the afternoon before Osian Actie netted a fifth for Ross Taylor Gibbs’ side to ensure there would be no way back for the visitors.

Two early goals from Llandrindod Wells helped them edge past 10-man Cardiff Corinthians in a five-goal thriller at the Riverside Ground.

The visitors went ahead through Jack Evans and Daryl Nicholls inside the opening eight minutes before Mamadi Mane halved the deficit for the Corries.

Robert Nicholls then grabbed the third for the away side and, despite Aron Davies scoring on the stroke of half time, they were unable to find the leveller in the second half, with Joseph Evans dismissed late on.

Elsewhere, Paul Fleming scored two-second half goals for Denbigh Town as they beat 10-man Pill AFC 3-1 to seal their place in the last four.

Robert Millar was dismissed inside the 76th minute for the hosts, who grabbed a late goal through Leo Ross but it only proved to be a consolation.

While Andrew Evans’ second-half strike proved to be the difference in Trethomas Bluebirds’ narrow 1-0 win over Baglan Dragons. The Bluebirds played the last 20 minutes with 10 men following Gwion Pugh-Jones’ red card, although the away side failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage.

The draw for the semi-finals will take place at 8pm on Monday on the FAW YouTube channel.
