JD Welsh Cup Quarter-Final Tie Selected for Sgorio Coverage

The JD Welsh Cup quarter-final tie between Penybont and Holywell Town at the SDM Glass Stadium has been selected for live coverage.

The fixture, which will get under way at 12:45pm on Sunday 5th February, will be shown live on S4C and Sgorio’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

Goals from Mael Davies and Kostya Georgievsky helped Penybont – the 2021/22 JD Welsh Cup runners-up – overcome JD Cymru North side Gresford Athletic to book their place in the last eight.

Rhys Griffiths’ side will welcome an-inform Holywell, who have won their last 13 games in all competitions and sit third in the JD Cymru North table.

The Wellmen were knocked out of the JD Welsh Cup at the first-round stage last season but wins over Llanuwchllyn, Hakin United and Guilsfield have seen them progress to the quarter-finals this time around.

Elsewhere in the JD Welsh Cup quarter-finals, Bala Town host Briton Ferry Llansawel and Airbus UK Broughton travel to Connah’s Quay Nomads, while the winner of the fourth-round tie between Cwmbran Celtic and Penydarren will be rewarded with a home clash against the defending champions The New Saints.
