Rob Page Pays Tribute to Joe Allen

Cymru manager Rob Page has paid tribute to Joe Allen after the midfielder calls time on his international career.

During the course of his 14-year international career, Allen has played in a key role in Cymru qualifying for two EURO finals and the World Cup, and his performances on the biggest stages will cement his legacy as a firm fan favourite with the Red Wall. Page paid tribute to one his most consistent players over the last few years.

“I have had the privilege and pleasure of working with Joe Allen for the last few years. He is a proud Welshman and a tremendous ambassador for his country both on and off the field.

Joe’s contribution to the success of Welsh football is immense.

Naturally I am disappointed that he will no longer be pulling on the red jersey but having spoken with him I respect and understand his decision. I would like to say a huge diolch to Joe and wish him all the best in the future.”

Rob Page, Cymru Manager

In his short but emotional statement, Allen handed his midfield baton over to the next generation, and they will be a generation inspired by what he delivered both on and off the field.

Diolch Joe.
