Show Racism the Red Card Month of Action

During October, football clubs across Wales are showing their support for the Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) Month of Action (MOA) as a vehicle to deliver an Anti-Racism message to the community through the power of sport.

Racism continues to be an issue across society with many people suffering abuse each day. The UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity, SRtRC believes that education is key to challenging racism in society. As the Football Association of Wales’ (FAW’s) anti-racism educational charity SRtRC utilises the high-profile status of football and football players to help tackle racism.

The Month of Action is part of a wider program funded by the FAW which will see clubs across the country hosting Match Actions with players of both teams uniting together to stand against racism.

In addition to the FAW’s domestic and grassroots Clubs showing their support on and off the pitch, Cymru’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off against Bosnia & Herzegovenia this coming Thursday (6th of October) will also be dedicated to the MoA.

Throughout the month of action SRtRC will be providing educational workshops to young people and adults in schools, whilst continuing their support throughout the year with FAW staff, FAW academies and the wider football family.

The FAW will be partaking in this year’s SRtRC “Wear Red Day” which will take place on Friday 21st of October. This is a day where everyone, everywhere in Wales can come together to raise money and show support for the campaign:

If you would like to support SRtRC’s Wear Red Day, you can by:

Texting; Text ‘RED’ to 70470 to give £1, ‘RED5’ to give £5, ‘RED10’ to give £10 etc.

Participating in football should be an enjoyable experience for all, where everyone can take part, everywhere in Wales and the FAW are calling on the football family to support the Action Weeks to join SRtRC, in saying NO to racism.

Challenging racism in football and society is a collective responsibility and there is a need for support across the whole football family in Wales.

If you see or hear racism at any level of football, please report it to the nearest steward or Club Official. You can also report an incident at www.faw.cymru/ReportIt or by emailing ReportIT@faw.co.uk
