WU17 & WU19 Squads Announced for Portugal Mini-Tournaments

The Cymru WU17 and WU19 squads will travel to Portugal this month to take part in two-mini tournaments as part of their preparations for the Second Round of their UEFA EURO 2023 qualifying campaigns.

Nicola Anderson’s WU19s will face Portugal (Wednesday 15 February), Poland (Saturday 18 February) and Iceland (Tuesday 21 February) in Sant’Ana. Following the tournament, Cymru will host the Second Round of the UEFA Women’s U19 EURO qualifiers in April, where Anderson’s side will face Kazakhstan and Estonia (dates and venues TBC).

Meanwhile, Nia Davies’ WU17s will travel to Algés on the west coast to face the Czech Republic (Thursday 16 February), Portugal (Sunday 19 February) and Serbia (Wednesday 22 February). The matches will be their final preparations ahead of the UEFA Women’s U17 EURO Round 2 qualifiers in March, where Cymru will face the Netherlands, Finland and Sweden in League A.

There is strong domestic representation across both selected squads, with eleven call-ups from the Adran Premier League and a further nine call-ups from the FAW Academy North and South teams.
